INTERVIEW:
Daken: Welcome to Season 3 of You Are Your Name. In this season, we are asking a Kabalarian Name Consultant various questions on balanced names.
My guest today is Marlowe Shearing. She's a long-term student of the Kabalarian Philosophy. She is also a staff member at the head office. She's a senior instructor. She's given many presentations on the Kabalarian Philosophy. She's very qualified to answer this question. And the question today is, "Can you explain what the Cycle Charts are and why I should consider one?"
Marlowe: The Cycle Charts are explainable by life being energy. And as we conceive that life is energy, we look around in life and we see growth. We see changing seasons. We see the springtime and all the budding of plants and the growth, the birth of the new cows and the rabbits and all the parts of life. And so we see that life is an evolving or a cyclical pattern of energies of time. And so as each person is born into life, they become involved in those energies. And those energies are specific to us because we join life at a particular time. We take that first breath and that first breath denotes we are alive. As we become involved in life, that cyclical energy is an energy of life that can be utilized as an additional impetus for the decisions and the changes and the ideals that we have to create in our life.
So man becomes involved in life. And with that first breath, we can also measure our birthpath from the month, day, and year of birth. But that birthpath quality then shows a potential to be developed through our mind. And if man is to become the steward of the earth or that greater energy in life bringing reason into reality, then man has opportunities beyond feeling. And those come through ideals and directional thinking of accomplishment.
So the Cycle Chart takes this specific time of our birth, the time when we become involved in life, and offers a book that establishes our personal cycle, and then the actions that can be taken in that year. And so it's not a horoscope. It's not a forecast. It's analyzing the energies of life and giving our minds that added confidence to know how to work with those energies. And we can prove those energies by looking at the Cycle Chart and then thinking, "Oh well, I'll do something different." And we see the results.
So the Cycle Charts are broken into the year, the months, the days, and the cycle hours. And life is made up of growth for each individual. And so there's growth in our career, in our mind, in our thinking, in our studies, in our development, things that we want to accomplish. And the cycles give us the awareness of when the best opportunity is to start something or to dig in and spend our time in the tedium of learning, and the results that can come because we created that base of knowledge and what we can accomplish in the next cycle.
So the Cycle Charts outline that quality of time. They outline the energies of life that are expressing through that time. And then because we've taken a balanced name and we know our inner potential, we know what we want to accomplish. This is outlining the best times to take advantage and use that quality of energy in our life for accomplishment.
Daken: So we go through a 9 year pattern. And so there would be a Cycle Chart for each cycle year. And if you opened up your Cycle Chart, you would actually see a summary of the year, a summary of the months. As you drill down, you're going to actually get a summary of the day. And it might mention the key hours of the day for particular progressive action would be such and such.
Marlowe: Yes. So it is giving our minds then both the understanding of the energies and a confidence in the Principle and an awareness of utilizing those energies. And those energies are qualities of energy related to the 1 to 9 Principle, but now those energies are in motion. So just like that 1 quality is individuality and Peter is very determined and able to work on his own, in the 1 quality in cyclic quality of time, it represents that time to start. And so within that quality of time is that energy of starting, that energy of standing on your own, that energy of being able to make a decision and go forward without a lot of assurance and reassurance from others. That your mind can see what is needed and go ahead and make a start. And so those qualities of energy become a part of our thinking as well.
And so as you said, there are nine Cycle Charts. With that greater awareness of all the qualities, we begin to recognize and understand and see the potential of those energies and our mind can grow to utilize those qualities of energies in our own life. Say we're a more passive individual and we come into that 1 cycle and we think, "Boy, now's the time and I've got to make a decision firmly and use this period because that energy is working with me to take advantage of starting something new and creating something more in my life."
Daken: We use the nine stages of plant growth as a model to explain how this cyclic pattern occurs in nature as well. Would you go through those nine phases and then just say what sort of activities would be relative to each of those stages?
Marlowe: Yes. Thank you Daken. The 1 quality is that of the seed, and that seed has that hard shell. You put it in the ground, and that seed then determines that there is growth ahead. And so in our life that seeding is the quality of change that we'd like to make, starting a new business, changing our career, changing a job, developing some new avenue of self-expression, and taking that time in the 1 year to start something. Initiate. One time an individual said, "I didn't start anything in the 1 year!" And I said, "Yes, you changed your name. That's a big start. That's a big step in creating that change and that opportunity for growth."
The 2 cycle then, that seed must be watered and that heart shell of the seed cracks and we call it germination. And so now instead of one individual, we have two. That 2 quality of association, diplomacy, understanding the heart and mind of our fellow man. And so in that 2 quality, it requires us to branch out and see people, meet people, understand people, get to know and understand our fellow man, share our ideas and defend our ideas because then we're creating that greater strength of mind and greater awareness of what we want to accomplish.
That 3 in the plant, the plant sticks its shoot above the ground and it's saying, "Here, life! Here I am! I'm going to be a plant!" And you look out in your garden, you see all those little green shoots and you think, "Yes, I've got a row of carrots." And in the 3 cycle for man, that 3 quality represents that quality of expression. That quality of sharing with others, of giving the joy of life, the laughter, the person that can tell stories and change the energy in a workplace by adding humor. And that 3 quality shows the expansion and that quality of being able to lift others and add energy to life.
And so that 4 quality, now we have the root system. And that root system both provides stability and it absorbs the nutrients of the soil for the future growth of that plant. We think of the things in our life that create stability. It's the understanding, the home base that provides that energy of warmth and comfort. And so it's the sorting out, and the establishing filing systems, cleanliness, decluttering, all those things that will create freedom and opportunity of mind. If it's a business, that filing system and that awareness of the details is what's going to create the processes and the basis for future growth.
That 5 quality, now that we have a root system, that plant has the rapid growth, branches, and leaves, and it becomes like a plant. And so in our life that 5 quality is that quality of seeking, of looking beyond the finite. And so you decluttered and now what? You have a home where you come and relax. What more do you want to add to your life? Or in business, you forge out to find new clients, new client base, new opportunities, maybe another product that is going to augment or add to what you've already created. So that quality of reaching out and looking at the why of life, more about discovery, reading, traveling, seeking out with your mind.
The 6 quality of the plant is the bud, and that bud is the promise of the fruit to come. And so that budding process in our life is that opportunity to look at what our mind has become, what mind has created, looking at the thinking patterns. Very often in the 6 cycle, we require to be a caregiver or to look after someone or assist others. And that quality of reaching out to others in that way creates more of a broadness and it creates a self-responsibility, a recognition of qualities that we need to develop in our mind, patience, the love. And in business it's time when possibly we need repairs and things fixed. We need to buy another truck because we recognize that shipping is going to be a problem ahead. And so we have that perspective to see need and make changes. So that 6 year can be a year of payout and give out. But it's a time when we learn so much about ourself and what is required to create that individuality and maintain that quality, being able to be responsible, but take enough relaxation that we can create that balance in our life.
That 7 quality then is the flower in the plant. And that flower is the pause in life and it's waiting for pollination. That pause in life can be a disturbing energy in this world because no one pauses. If you pause, you get run over or you're missing out. And so that time of relaxation of mind and expanding and looking inward can be a challenging time, that 7 cycle. And that time is best spent in reflection, golfing, walking out in nature, trying to draw in the energies of life to build that resilience of mind, and that quality of being reflected and seeing that there's more to life. The second half of the 7 year becomes more productive and more relative than to the fruition, which is the 8 quality.
And the 8 quality in the plant is the fruit. And we look at the fruit and we think, "Ah! Finally we have the harvest." And in our lives, that 8 year can be a year of work and effort, bringing in that fruition, seeing opportunity and recognize that that opportunity is not going to come to you. You need to go out and take advantage because now your mind and conditions have indicated what is there ahead of you. And so your mind can go and create that, bring that into fruition in your life. So that 8 cycle year is a productive but another really busy, active period of time.
And in the plant, the 9, that flower has and the fruit has finished. And so now the seeds drop to the ground for the next cycle. And so in our 9 year, that 9 year brings another time of reflection, broadness of thinking. That 9 quality is a time of looking backwards and then looking forward. It's not a time of making change. But it's a time in the first half to take a rest and just look at what has been accomplished. Look at the people you've met, the changes in your thinking, the changes in your idealism. And then in the second half of the 9 year, you can look ahead and project. "What are the other things that you would like to accomplish with your business, with your mind, with your life? What are the things that you would like to add?"
That's a brief overview of the one to 9 principle related to the plan.
Daken: Thank you, Marlowe. That's pretty broad. So the 1, 2, and 3 are your seeding periods. And so anything you want to accomplish in the 9 year cycle, you would want to initiate in the key cycle months of the key cycle years. And we'd even consider key cycle days for really important things just to get things started with the best energy behind it.
And then your 4, 5, and 6 are your testing and proving. That's where you prove that your seeding was intelligent and you handle all the challenges and the opportunities and make the decisions and handle the growth that comes.
And then your 7, 8, and 9 is your fruition. So that becomes your results of all your previous efforts.
The cycles tell you what the optimum time or action to do that's relative to the intelligence of the cycle. But the flip side of it is it also tells you what not to do. If you had started a new business in a 9 year, you're going have a problem because even if the business is intelligent, you've started in the wrong time. So your seeding is wrong, so you would have challenges.
Marlowe: Yes. And it's so interesting to look at that because as you work with people in the cycle class trying to learn this Principle, there are questions that allow them to reflect on the cyclic times that they have started something. And it's interesting that with a balanced name, that those actions are almost inevitably started at the correct time, that the unbalanced quality of thinking is what pushes you emotionally to have that desire, "I've got to get started," but it isn't the right time.
And that video that is on the Kabalarian Philosophy website relative to cycles, it shows that African violet being planted in the snow. And you look at it and you laugh. But that quality of balance in our thinking and the knowledge of the Principle gives us that confidence to see the bigger picture and to think, "Well, that's a good idea." And say it came in your 9 cycle. I wonder how that will sit in my 1 cycle when it's time to initiate or start something. And so in that 9 cycle, you write down your thoughts and then in the 1 cycle when it is the seating time, you find that your thinking will change or that you'll see another perspective, or that it will be slightly different. But that change can be initiated at that time, and the growth will follow with the best fruition.
Daken: So there's a lot to cycles. If they have the Cycle Chart, they can start using it. But again, it's always useful to take the Cycle Management Training so you really see the bigger picture and how to blend all your activities in a long-term cycle.
Marlowe: Many people get caught in the calculation part of the cycles that it is difficult. But in taking the course, it gives you that recognition of where this intelligence comes from and how it works. But in a Cycle class, on a Zoom class, one of the members that were taking the class held up the Cycle Chart and she said, "This is the Bible of life. This gives the actions that you need to take. Buy one!" And I laughed, but the Cycle Chart lays it all out so easily for quick review and quick reference. Whereas analyzing your cycle and thinking about it day-to-day, creates a mental exercise. But the Cycle Chart is really valuable as that tool of reference.
Daken: Initially you tend to use it for your business or your career. "How am I going to get ahead by doing the right things at the right time?" And that's just part of life. We want to make progress. But when you look at it from a philosophical point of view, it also shows the quality of your mind and how it's changing over time. So it helps you manage your thinking which is part of our overall objective of creating mental freedom.
So if you know in a 1 year the challenges, (where) you tend to be a little bit more blunt and self-centered, you can modify that expression so that you're not expressing the negative quality of the 1 during that period of time. And that's true for every cycle. Would you agree?
Marlowe: Yes. And it is an interesting that an individual without a sense of humor will watch someone at work that can tell stories and create that real lift for a group of people and wonder at it. And then coming to that 3 quality of time, and because that intelligence is expressing through the cycle, they can actually learn humor and see the funny side of life and develop that quality and add it to what we would call their toolbox of life. That before, it has been an observance of that quality of humor because they have such a serious nature. And yet now they can become a part of it. And that is, as you said, the philosophical development of using the cycles for the broadening of the mind.
Daken: So you can use it in your physical life. You can use it in your mental life in terms of developing mental growth. And you can use that mental growth to create spiritual fulfillment. So there's a physical, mental and spiritual aspect to cycles, which you have to study them to really see the bigger picture of that.
Marlowe: Yes. And it requires going through it and the observance, and then the cognition, and then the utilization. So you're right, taking the course is an additional way to speed up that awareness of those cyclic periods of time.
Daken: Thank you, Marlowe. That's a broad perspective on cycles and appreciate you giving us that insight.
Marlowe: Thank you for having me.
