INTRODUCTION:
Daken: Welcome to You Are Your Name. In this season, we are interviewing people who have balanced their names through the Kabalarian Philosophy.
If you have been following our podcast, you will know that the Kabalarian Philosophy teaches that names create a hugh influence on our thinking, our health, and the experiences we attract and that balanced names will create a much more balanced life.
We have people from all over the world changing their names, and we thought it would be helpful for you to listen to some of the changes they experienced after they balanced their names.
INTERVIEW:
Daken: Our guest today is Lorenda Bardell. Thank you Lorenda for joining the podcast.
Lorenda: It's a pleasure.
Daken: So how long have you been using a balanced name?
Lorenda: I have been using a balanced name now for 60 years.
Daken: Wow. That's great. Now, how did you find out about the Principle?
Lorenda: I found out about the Principle through an insurance sales representative that came to our home back in 1963.
Daken: So he was a student and he analyzed your names or how did that work out?
Lorenda: Yes. I had my name analyzed and I was quite surprised at what was said about myself because there are things that I didn't think anybody knew, and so I was really drawn to it. And then he spent time talking about the Principles of the Kabalarian Philosophy, and I realized that it was really something that I could connect with because it sounded so truthful and logical and applicable.
Daken: So did you get a Name Report?
Lorenda: I got a Name Report and that even confirmed it even more. It was written by the Founder, Mr. Parker, and it was so true to the way my life was unfolding as a young person.
Daken: So was it a difficult process to change your name?
Lorenda: Not difficult in the way of the process going through the government and changing my name. But it did cause some conflict in my home life. But, over time, that sorted itself out.
Daken: So what changes did you notice in your life with the balanced name?
Lorenda: Well, I noticed that some of the restrictions that I had experienced in my thinking and expression, all of a sudden it was like they were going away and it was easier to be happy. It was easier to express and to be relaxed with people. And also I was trying at the time to develop my art. And I just found, again, there were restrictions. But when I changed my name, it was like even my painting and some of the things I was involved in artistically seemed to just open up.
Daken: That's great. And I guess you were fairly young at the time?
Lorenda: I was 20. I didn't have a healthy childhood, and that was the other thing that I found with the balanced name. It seemed that some of the issues that I experienced were also fading away. But then , I decided to become a apart and I went on a, what the Kabalarians call a cleansing diet for a year and found that I was able to overcome most of the challenges that I experienced in my teenage growing up.
Daken: That's interesting. So you became a student and then you applied what you learned in Healthy Living and effectively changed your overall health, your vitality.
Lorenda: That's right. And, you know, the Kabalarians, of which I am a part, the breathing is such a very important aspect as well; daily deep breathing. And so that's what I appreciated about the Kabalarian Philosophy. It was definite principles that could be applied, nothing just on blind faith. It was applicable principles that made sense and applied physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Daken: So you noticed changes in your thinking, your health. You found a new perspective, I presume, with the understanding of the Principles. And as you applied them, you improved your life.
Lorenda: That's right. And in the Name Report there was this whole commentary about your birthpath, the date that you were born, and how there it was your purpose and laid out for you.
At first, I didn't recognize it because the name I had, which is the compelling power in a person's life, it didn't seem like it was me. But when I changed my name and was using my name, I started to be drawn into the activities that were relative to my date of birth, my purpose in life, and throughout a lifetime of finding happiness and doing the things that you should be doing.
Daken: You're an 8 birthpath. I understand.
Lorenda: 8 birthpath. Yes.
Daken: What is the role of the 8?
Lorenda: Well, the 8 is is in leadership positions and administration. It's a practical quality. It's the 8 quality is meant to understand people, to be able to help position people in places where they should be. And so those are a few things about the 8.
Daken: You're now the President of the Society of Kabalarians. You've been on the Board of Directors for many years. You're also the office manager at the head office. So I guess that's, relative to that quality.
Lorenda: Yes, it is. And, and all through my time in the Kabalarian Philosophy, it was like I was led into one thing, into another, into another. And that's what can happen to anyone. They can really find themselves and what their true purpose is in life, and be happy and just love life because you're doing the things that you're meant to do.
Daken: And you also had a middle minor of a 9, I believe.
Lorenda: Yes, that's right.
Daken: How would you describe the purpose of the 9 middle minor?
Lorenda: Well, the 9 quality is the love of people and wanting to help people, the compassion. And it's also has the artistic side. But it's, it's a, a broad, a broader concept of life, uh, wanting, but basically wanting to help others and to see that others find their path in life.
Daken: So there's this role of service in the 9, isn't there?
Lorenda: That's right.
Daken: And here you are helping to administer a spiritual organization, really.
Lorenda: That's right.
Daken: So what advice would you give to someone considering a balanced name?
Lorenda: I would say that it's one of the most important decisions that you will ever make. It's challenging because you've got to deal with family and friends. But if you are really looking for the truth of life, and you really want to change your life, then change of name is so important.
Daken: Do you have any advice for handling family relative to when they have concerns about a name change?
Lorenda: Yes. As I looked back on the way perhaps I handled things, I would say that a person has to be very patient with family. It's going to take them time. To understand why you've made the change and that you're not doing something really weird. They're worried for you. And so we have to appreciate that and to show the same love and understanding to every family member that we would normally do. And just not be impatient, not get angry, but just know where you're going. Stay on the path, and then just help others to accept what you're doing.
Daken: Good advice. I have one question here relative to what have you found valuable in the study program of the Kabalarian Philosophy and how has it changed your life?
Lorenda: Well, step-by-step, it changes your life. You learn about the Mathematical Principle and you realize all of life is measurable; our birthpath, our name. Everything is measurable, everything is understandable. And so that really opens your mind to a vast understanding of this universal intelligence that's behind all life.
And then you go through cycles. You learn about cycles, how time unfolds in patterns. And if you follow those patterns, you can make a success of anything you do. And then Healthy Living again, you apply the Principles and achieve good health and you continue on. Another course is How To Be Mentally Free, and that's learning to understand the difference between emotion and thinking. And how if we always use logic and analysis and use that power of emotion to lift and inspire rather than reacting and creating havoc in life, that all of these things lead to a peaceful, serene life of accomplishment.
Daken: Well, that's great. Thank you for your thoughts on the Principle. I'm sure that your insight will help others. Thank you for participating.
Lorenda: Thank you Daken.
