INTRODUCTION:
Welcome to YOU ARE YOUR NAME. In this season, we interview people who have balanced their names through the Kabalarian Philosophy sometime in the past. We hope you gain insights into the value of applying this basic Law of mind yourself.
If you have listened to the previous episodes, you will know that the Kabalarian Philosophy teaches that the names we use are subject to a basic Mathematical Law which shapes our thinking patterns, our health weaknesses, and the experiences that we attract using those names.
INTERVIEW:
Daken: Our guest today is Sarahlee Kittons. She's been studying the Kabalarian Philosophy for about 10 years and she's balanced her names. Thank you, Sarahlee, for sharing some of your experiences with us. How long have you been using a balanced name?
Sarahlee: I actually legally changed it in April of 2015. It was interesting though, because I found the Kabalarian Philosophy, I don't know, the middle of 2014, I think. I actually chose my name and I wanted to start using it right away just to see what it felt like.
So I had gotten a seasonal job and asked them if I could have any name I wanted on my name tag and they said, sure, whatever you want. So I thought, "Great, okay. I'll use my Sarahlee name." And so when I first heard it from somebody, it took me back and was like, "Oh, they're talking to me," and it just gave me a really joyful feeling to hear that as my name. And those months really affirmed to me that this was the right thing to do. It was like trying it on and feeling it out and playing with it a little bit.
Daken: You can change your name through the government, but you can also change your name just through usage. So in a sense, you were using that as a nickname. And so did you notice some changes while you were using that name?
Sarahlee: I felt lighter. I felt happier. I felt like I was making positive changes in my life at a subconscious level in a way. But I just wanted to stay light. And because I chose the name that I did, the customers would always come up and say, Oh, do the Sarahlee Cakes jingle. And I never ate Sarahlee products. So they would always say, "Nobody doesn't like Sarahlee." And we'd all laugh. And it was just like this is really funny. I didn't really want to be associated with that. And it's still always a door opener for people. So I use it as like a way to start conversation and I really like it.
Daken: How did you find the Kabalarian Philosophy?
Sarahlee: I was reading an article somebody wrote and I've always been a seeker, looking to improve myself or learn about how things are. And I don't remember what it was, but somebody had mentioned the Kabalarian Philosophy in this article and talking about names which perked my interest because I've always been unhappy with my name through my whole life. And I thought, I'm going to, I'm going to look into this, so that's when I did.
Daken: So when you got the Name Report was that what gave you the confidence to balance the name? It seems like you wanted to change your name even before you contacted the Philosophy.
Sarahlee: My mom had picked my name way back when she was young and she loved it. And she would always tell me that. And I would hate to hurt her feelings but, "Mom, I don't really like my name!" But yeah, I never really did. But when I got the Name Report. I read it and I thought, "Wow, this really makes so much sense as to my experiences in life, some of the challenges I've had, some of the habits just my way of viewing life."
So it really did give me the deeper affirmation that I was on the right track. Because Changing your name yourself, I think, is just pulling it out of the wind kind of thing or what you think you might want to attach yourself to in, in some way. I think, how do we really know that we're doing the right thing? And because the Kabalarian Philosophy had a foundation and a real concrete way of explaining about the name and giving me more concrete information, it just affirmed my confidence in going ahead.
Daken: They're the world authority on names and balanced names, of course. Many people think I'll just take a name off the website. I had a neighbor who his daughter married into a family where they had a balanced last name just by coincidence. She was pregnant and she was going to have a baby. And I said, “Gosh, you should give it a balanced name.” So she went to the website and instead of buying a Balanced Name Report she just chose one randomly. And she gave that little child a total which would have created a lot of chaos in his life, very unstable. Such a missed opportunity. So what was it a difficult process changing your name?
Sarahlee: Oh like I said, the only difficulty was facing my family and friends. I think getting the information and then really delving into what I was doing and why and the explanation of the names gave me more confidence and supported the courage to do it. So having that support was really beneficial in changing my name, making a good solid choice. But I think it was thinking over my life and the challenges that I had in the past years. And I took note of those kind of energies that were habitual and reoccurring themes.
When I kept thinking about changing my names, I thought I'm going to change my life really through this whole process, because now I see the deeper energies that are coming up. So when I picked out my name, it took me about a week before I found the two names, first and surname, that really struck me. And when it happened, when I put those two names together, it was like, wow, I've been through this whole list. And I thought there were names at first that really sounded good. But when I put those two names together, I just, all of a sudden, my whole gut just got really happy and light. And I felt this release. And I know that sounds really extreme, but that's how it felt for me, and I knew it was the right combination for me. So I just felt giddy about this new beginning that would change my life for the better, and that's what I was thinking.
It was not difficult to change my name but simply a matter of looking up the process for my state and follow the procedures. So I filed the paperwork with the county and posted it in the courthouse for 30 days at their direction. And since there was no objections to my filing on that notice, they processed my paperwork after 30 days, legally stamping my name change and so they gave me the copies.
And so it was just over time when I changed my social security, credit cards, driver's license, and I just took it slow. Each day I found some time to do it. I would take one and just do it. And changing my Birth Certificate was just as easy. So I keep those. stamped documents in a file and if I ever need them, then I have them. But now it's all changed, and I don't even think back to my old name unless somebody brings it up.
Daken: Sure. What changes did you notice once you started using your balance name as a legal name change?
Sarahlee: The first thing that really struck me as I was going through some pretty stressful times when I did this. My whole system was taxed out at this time. And when I changed my name it was like, over, some days, and then into the weeks, I started feeling more peaceful. It was like a certain power started broadening out how I was looking at things. And I felt like I was taking more time to think about things instead of reacting how I would have normally done.
When I look over how I dealt with my life at that time, I was definitely more practical in my approach and less reactive. But I also started doing the studies for the name analysis because I really wanted to understand what is this power and how is it working for me because this is a dramatic thing in my life.
And it gave me more confidence with my family and my friends. Most of my friends just said, "Oh, great!" And they thought it was really fun that I was taking a name change. It's later in life for me and everything. And we're less conditioned by things around us, I think, when we let go at this point. But I learned about living through the positive qualities by delving into the name analysis program, rather than from a self-initiated emotional approach, where the ego's really attached to what you're doing.
But the real power came in learning to relate with others in a more meaningful way because of the understanding that I gained through the Philosophy. So it wasn't really just learning my name, but learning overall how to use the analysis process in others' names so I could understand how they're expressing in life. And therefore I could relate to people a lot easier. And it really opened more avenues for me to have deeper relationships, I think, at another level that I hadn't realized.
The other thing was, is the stress that I was living had taxed my organ systems a lot, and I was having some health issues and that all seemed to resolve and calm down and go away. I've really had some profound changes when I came in and did all this.
Daken: Wow, that's excellent. So you noticed an improvement in your health. You noticed a broadness in your thinking, and your perspective on dealing with people was now through a principle rather than through emotion because you were analyzing the way they think and trying to bring out their higher side. That's really what studentship is all about; using the Principle to make your life a more constructive expression. What advice would you give anyone considering a balanced name now?
Sarahlee: I would say, taking your time with looking at this and really get an understanding of the information that the office can give you. Don't have any fear of working with them. Ask all the questions you can. Because the outside world that we live in conditions so much and how we seem to respond and habituate into. Making a change like this, you really need support from a positive frame and the office can give you that. And, if you get into the studies and you have somebody you can call all the time, and they're there for you to walk you through some of the questions or difficulties you might feel coming up with it.
We're all kind of reinvent ourselves through life and new jobs, relationships, or circumstances. By adding this great benefit of a new and a balanced name and learning the Philosophy, only gives us a chance to better ourselves and our life circumstances and our relationships. I can only say that it's just such a positive thing to do and to just take it one step at a time and know that when you do something positive like this, you definitely will attract more good things into your life to support the path that you're on. That's what I think.
Daken: Going back to an earlier thought you had about using the Principle. Did you find that understanding the groups or the birthpaths, which are a measurement of the inner potential of your friends and people that you have that are close to you, was that helpful in understanding them?
Sarahlee: Oh, absolutely. Yes. As you get into the Life Analysis Program and understand the groups and can look at the relationships you've had with them and see the patterns that they've lived out in their life and you understand people better, maybe the choices they've made or the responses they have about something.
It also gives you more of a tool to help support them in a positive way. So definitely all the tools of the Life Analysis give you so much more of an awareness. I still to this day tell people that my life changed so much just having these tools because it's like putting on a new set of glasses. You see the world in a whole different way because you have so much more understanding.
Daken: Good way to look at it. What have you found valuable from your study program in the Kabalarian Philosophy that you'd like to share with the listeners?
Sarahlee: Because I've been through probably the majority of all the lessons in the different categories now it's made my life more healthy. There's many aspects to living a balanced life besides our name and then our, the way we eat, the healthy aspects of how we live our lives, take care of our physical being and nurture that. And then getting deeper into the principles of the Philosophy and understanding the positive qualities that we're here to express and live out. Changing our processes to where we're aligning ourself in a more positive frame of mind. But through all the Philosophy teaching, there's just a wealth of information that adds step-by-step, more deeper understandings of the concepts that the Philosophy teaches.
Daken: One of the underlying themes is that everything that the student learns is giving them a greater grasp of mental freedom, because mental freedom is really something you have to work for. It's not something that just happens. It's something you have to learn to manage your thinking, be free of the lower emotions, and be able to express the constructive qualities as you were talking about. It should be a foundation that everyone should know about, but very few people do.
Sarahlee: Yes. And mental freedom, I think I probably use another term, but it's the same thing in my mind, and I call it strength of mind because when I stop and I have a challenge in front of me and I feel like old patterns might be coming up, and you want to have this emotional response, It's like you just grab that other toolbox and say, "No, I don't, I can broaden my mind out here. And I have strength of mind, freedom of mind to be able to look at this a whole new way and respond from a whole different level." And take it out of the context where it was maybe initiated or something.
Daken: One Any final comments that you'd like to make?
Sarahlee: I just that changing my name to a balanced one has been nothing short of profound change for the better and continues to be a foundation of continual learning in my life. It's a courageous undertaking when fear and doubt cast so many shadows in our lives by society's programming and demands. And the world has so much negativity and distractions which can keep us away from knowing the truth of our divine inner nature.
It's what a better way to shift life into a more happy way of being by reshaping our inner world to align with a positive expression of who we are and really tapping into our potential and ultimately developing it into the world and living out that potential.
Daken: Good thoughts. Thank you for sharing them.
Sarahlee: You're welcome. Thanks for having me on.
